As this unique concert forms part of Dunedin's Festival of Japan, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Otaru-Dunedin sister city link, it will have distinctive Japanese and New Zealand flavours.
The concert will begin with the magical sound of Japan, in a work by Toru Takemitsu, Japan's best-known orchestral composer, How Slow the Wind. This is followed by a similarly evocative work by New Zealander Larry Pruden. The first half will close with Symphony No.1, by New Zealand's most recognized composer Lilburn.
The evening will conclude with a rousing performance of one of the great choral classics Mozart's Requiem, sung by the combined City of Dunedin Choir and the Auckland Choral Society.
